Invited by representatives of the Avonside community, Place in time: The Christchurch documentary project has begun work on a significant oral and visual record of the lives of Avonside residents as they experience the after-effects of the devastating Christchurch earthquakes.
The work will look at people's experiences and how life unfolds for them as Avonside is depopulated, homes demolished, and lives begun again elsewhere.
Leading the team is documentary photographer and oral historian Glenn Busch, director of Place in time and a senior lecturer at the University of Canterbury. He is recording the participant's experiences and writing their stories.
Bridgit Anderson - photographer and manager of the University of Canterbury's Place in time archive is photographing the participants involved.
Tim J. Veling - photographer and University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts lecturer is recording the buildings and landscape of Avonside as it changes.
